This morning, breakfast was a rather rushed affair. I'd overslept half an hour, had to wash my hair and still somehow made it on time to my ten o'clock lecture. Despite this, however, I managed to cram rather a lot into the short space of time and made it a worthwhile meal.
With time very much in short supply, I decided against muesli, and chose Weetabix as it makes for a much quicker munch. These were the last two biscuits in the box, making for a cathartic breakfast, as I felt glad that I'd achieved the wheaty goals I'd set myself, and could progress with life. I'll never have that box of cereal back again, but it's time to move on to new means of sustenance. It did prove that Weetabix is rather unlike fine wine in at least one respect: they hadn't improved with age, tasting pretty much the same as when I opened them. Nevertheless, I must say I was impressed with how quickly they soaked up the milk.
The early morning fluid intake was rather more varied than usual, embellished by a glass of smoothie. I still can't take the coconut in it, but it is a delicious beverage, without the sharpness of most orangey drinks. Of course, this was supported by the classic water and a cup of tea. In fact, it was a rather good cuppa, just right, and it rekindled my faith in Twinings. There had been an ever so slight taste of nettles from some of the bags, although I might just have left them to stew too long.
All in all, it was about as good a breakfast as could be had under the circumstances.
